Meet Sharece Crawford

As the daughter of a home health aide and a disability care provider, Sharece brings a wealth of personal conviction and policy advocacy to the D.C. Council race. Her formula for public safety includes human capital recovery, economic empowerment, secure housing, smart policing, and vocational education. She is informed by her experience surviving multiple shooting incidents and serving as a founding youth member of the Peaceoholics, a violence prevention organization that successfully reduced crime in the District.

As a former Program Analyst at the Small Business Administration, Sharece evaluated policy effectiveness for entrepreneurs and business owners to achieve economic stability. While serving as an Advisory Neighborhood Commissioner, Sharece launched the first-ever Resident Resolution Roundtable, which allowed residents to galvanize their political power to address issues impacting their respective communities. Her record of community engagement continues through her firm, District Influencers (DI), a consultancy specializing in strategic communications for political education, political actions, and policy changes.

Notably, Sharece supported the policy framework to identify gun violence as a public health crisis; supported D.C. Councils’ recent Police Reform Commission, and the framework that introduced the District of Columbia’s Office of the Attorney General. Through the ANC and District Influencers Sharece has engaged hundreds of local business owners and impacted thousands of residents through her support of nonprofits that directly address the homeless and housing crisis, food injustices, youth services, and human rights services.

Sharece graduated from Ballou Senior High School and Shaw University, an HBCU in North Carolina. For her work in human services, Sharece has received numerous awards and distinctions including, Leadership in Youth Development & Minority Entrepreneurship by Community Connoisseurs, Honorary Census Ambassador by United Planning Organization, and honored for her Outstanding Contribution to the Ward 8 community. Sharece and her family are members of the Temple of Praise Baptist Church.
